ok. back with my updates from the taipei trip. :)
this trip was one exciting one.
despite the fact that i've been there 2 years ago. :)
many "first" still!!!
Day 1
being on the plane wouldn't occur to anyone as an exciting "first"
but for the first time i saw snow.
yes! on the plane!
got a shocked when my cousin nudged me to look outside the window cuz the shutters were down for quite some time. :D
when we touched down,
all we thought about was food.
hahaha.
typical.
so we headed out to the nearest restaurant to grab a bite before we go for our shabu shabu dinner.
check out the ice cubes! they're mushroom-shaped.
they even had some collagen stuff to add into your soup so you can make your skin smoother while enjoying great food. lol.
and they serve ostrich meat as well!
eewww....
btw, if u ever wanna have steamboat in taiwan...
don't tell them "steamboat"
cuz they'll think it's a real boat. LOL.
it's called a hotpot! hahahaha.
oh!
guess what.
we managed to head down to Jolin's nail shop! (Oops J!)
the place wasn't very big.
but the decors looked like alot of details were well taken care of.
even the floors had her signature "J" on them.
Day 2
we headed down to leofuchun theme park on day 2.
but before that, we grabbed Dunkin Donuts for breakfast!
the waiter asked if we're from Hong Kong.
LOL.
almost everywhere the pple ask the same question,
think cuz mum has a hongkie face. hahaha.
leofuchun has the same rides as before but the flying condor changed!
now all their seats are faced in the same direction and there's no escape from the vertical fall anymore.
LOL.
was so confident before i saw the ride and when it was almost our turn,
made a fast u-turn when we saw the ride take off.
hahaha.
it disappeared before our eyes in like a second!
but the entire theme park if filled with christmas decor.
prob one of the few places that has christmas decor since taiwanese don't celebrate christmas cuz it's not a holiday. :P
and mum was conned into taking one of the "mild" rides.
the lady operator was saying "although the ride is not thrilling but you should still take it so you'll know if it's worth playing next time"
with that, mum hopped in, thinking it'll be some kinda slow kiddie ride.
boy was she in for a surprise.
it started so slowly that we thought "omg, is tt it?"
and when it started speeding up,
mum was hugging onto my aunt and shutting her eyes saying "it's so scary!!!"
LOL.
oh! and this time we went to the "zoo" in there.
the goats were trying to escape and the tiny one managed to get out!
hahaha.
was hilarious when we tried chasing aft it to have our photos taken. LOL.
that night we went to shilin night market.
shopping shopping shopping!!!

bought lotsa stuff!!!
think the things this yr are cheaper than 2 yrs ago!
lol.
and the bargaining was fun!!! :D
oh! and we tried out prawn hooking!
lol.
and my first shot at it got me my prize prawn!!! :)))
it's a big fat female prawn which still had its eggs attached!
and the stall uncle taught me how to cook my prawn!
hehe.
Day 3
day 3 was all about shopping!
my favourite. :P
had breakfast at a local store.
they actually used plastic bags to cover their plates
so they don't need to wash them!
so smart rite?
LOL.
headed to ximending in the morning and had ah zong mee sua.
delicious!
went back to the celebrity memorabilia shop and the owner's so friendly!
gave us generous discounts too! hehe.
we then made our way to danshui for more night market shopping! :D
the atmosphere there was just so different.
so many street performers and the breeze made walking effortless.
the street food was also so different from shilin.
there was seafood and really tall ice cream! :D
and the goods were all much cheaper compared to shilin.
then we had seafood dinner!
how can you miss the seafood when you're at the riverside. :D
Day 4
it was sight-seeing for day 4.
went to the 101 to take in the majestic view.
and had yummy food at their foodcourt!
we then went to take the new cable car / gondola
the gondola hit their 1 millionth visitor and was having a concert to celebrate.
there were so many taiwanese artistes at the concert!
luo zhi xiang, zhang shao han, soler...
you should have seen the crowd! ;)
and the gondola ride is 30 mins long!
i think we went over 4 mountains!
mum was so freaked out by the height she was frantically holding on to my cousin and bro.
hahaha. simply hilarious!
took a long walk at the mountains to find a nice teahouse to rest in.
and finally we got to the teahouse we were looking for!
it's really pretty compared to the other older and run-down teahouses.
they even had karaoke available!
none of us knew how to make tea so we had to get the waitress to teach us.
LOL.
and even the peanuts are different from what we usually eat!
it actually has 3 colors!!! lol.
and the tea had the fragrance of flowers! :)
the mosquitoes in the mountains were also different.
they were so much bigger!
i think it's almost twice as large as the ones we see in singapore.
mum decided to sing us a song since no one else is in the teahouse 'cept us.
and everyone were swaying their hands like some crazy fans.
hahaha.
after we left the mountains
we decided to make our last shopping trip to shilin AGAIN.
hahaha.
on our way to the taipei zoo station,
we came across a bright red shop.
Coca-Cola.
woa!
an entire shop selling Coca-Cola stuff.
lol.
before we headed for the stores,
we stopped at a restaurant and had buffet steamboat and barbecue!
they even gave us a private room where we had to take off our shoes to go in.
the waiters were like saying "他们讲英语”。
my cousin heard them and said loudly to my bro "为什么会给我们这个房间？"
and they started staring at each other in shock.
haha.
and they tried to speak english when introducing their menu which was kinda funny.
shopping at shilin was great!
and what a bountiful harvest we had!
;)
had a hard time trying to squeeze in all the stuff we bought into our luggage!
LOL.
then it was time to say goodbye to taipei.
an excellent way to end 2007. :)
